The University of Virginia Arts & Sciences Corcoran Department of Philosophy invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor position. We seek candidates with strong research skills who are also committed to teaching. Candidates should specialize in the philosophy of neuroscience or be engaged in research that draws on, or is otherwise closely connected with, work in neuroscience. This search is one of several being conducted this year as part of a cluster hire in neuroscience as the University seeks to expand its already strong cohort of researchers in this area. The University has thriving graduate and undergraduate degree programs in neuroscience as well as a strong undergraduate program in cognitive science, and has recently established the UVA Brain Institute, a pan-University research center. In addition to research endeavors, candidates will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and provide service to the University, Department and professional organizations. The standard teaching load is two courses a semester. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2016.
