LARSIM group at CEA-Saclay will hire a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr. Alexei Grinbaum on the EU project “Responsible Research and Innovation in Practice”. RRI Practice (www.rri-practice.eu) is a European Commission Horizon-2020 project that aims to analyze responsible research and innovation (RRI) related discourses and solutions in research and research funding organizations. The project has a global reach including partners from across Europe as well as from China, India, USA, Brazil, Australia, and Japan. Job description: Prepare comparative and integrative reports on the basis of national case studies on RRI keys “Ethics” and “Science education”. The reports will draw general lessons on barriers and drivers in these areas, identify good practices and suggest strategies for their broader implementation. Task 1: Comparison of Ethics key On the basis of national case studies, compare ethics activities with a focus on scalable best practices, including a comparative analysis of: a) research activities; b) deliberative methodologies implemented in research institutions; c) ethics boards and committees and their role. Task 2: Comparison of Science Education key On the basis of national case studies, compare science education activities with a focus on scalable best practices, particularly on the methodologies of scientific education for secondary-school and university students. Requirements PhD in philosophy of science, ethics, sociology of science, science and technology studies, innovation studies or a related area. Track record of research publications in English. Skills in working across disciplines and an interest in the governance of science. Fluent oral and written English is mandatory. French is not mandatory but a plus. Details The position is expected to be filled in the 2nd trimester of 2018. Duration: 12 months, with a possible extension. The candidate will work on the CEA Orme des Merisiers campus 20km south of Paris. Transportation to and from Paris is easy and subsidized. CEA offers a generous salary and benefits.
