School of Advanced Studies at the University of Tyumen opened in 2017 to
bring together faculty from across the globe to work together in
interrelated multidisciplinary team projects spanning biology, social
sciences, humanities and IT. We organize SAS research agenda around
challenging problems of contemporary scholarship and favor innovative
approaches which might be difficult to use in more traditional
institutions. As SAS is growing rapidly, we are inviting applications from
prospective faculty who want to either supplement our existing research
teams or initiate new projects.

Positions at SAS are open-rank with salaries reflecting qualification and
experience. Benefits are provided. SAS operates in English, so knowledge of
Russian is not required.

SAS faculty are hired as members of multidisciplinary research project
teams with a renewable 3?year contracts. In some cases, such as biologists
requiring lab base unavailable at SAS, joint appointments with other
departments at the University of Tyumen or other universities are possible.

SAS faculty are required to teach on undergraduate and graduate levels with
a teaching load analogous to best US research universities. As an
educational institution, SAS provides the most international BA program in
Russia using the model of an honors’ college with comprehensive general
education core, small classes, individualized tracks, and late choice of
major among Life Sciences, Information Technology & Digital Society,
Cultural Studies, Film & Media, Economics, Historical Studies, and
Sociology & Anthropology. In 2018, SAS opened its first MA program in
Digital Cultures and Media Production and it will be launching new MA and
PhD programs in the future.

SAS is located in Tyumen, the most livable city in Siberia, in a newly
reconstructed building at the historical center of the city.

Please send a CV, three letters of reference, and a cover letter describing
