School of Advanced Studies at the University of Tyumen opened in 2017 to bring together faculty from across the globe to work together in interrelated multidisciplinary team projects spanning biology, social sciences, humanities and IT. We organize SAS research agenda around challenging problems of contemporary scholarship and favor innovative approaches which might be difficult to use in more traditional institutions. As SAS is growing rapidly, we are inviting applications from prospective faculty who want to either supplement our existing research teams or initiate new projects. Positions at SAS are open-rank with salaries reflecting qualification and experience. Benefits are provided. SAS operates in English, so knowledge of Russian is not required. SAS faculty are hired as members of multidisciplinary research project teams with a renewable 3?year contracts. In some cases, such as biologists requiring lab base unavailable at SAS, joint appointments with other departments at the University of Tyumen or other universities are possible. SAS faculty are required to teach on undergraduate and graduate levels with a teaching load analogous to best US research universities. As an educational institution, SAS provides the most international BA program in Russia using the model of an honors’ college with comprehensive general education core, small classes, individualized tracks, and late choice of major among Life Sciences, Information Technology & Digital Society, Cultural Studies, Film & Media, Economics, Historical Studies, and Sociology & Anthropology. In 2018, SAS opened its first MA program in Digital Cultures and Media Production and it will be launching new MA and PhD programs in the future. SAS is located in Tyumen, the most livable city in Siberia, in a newly reconstructed building at the historical center of the city.
