Postdoctoral position in Social Choice Theory and/or Social Ethics Topic: “The Collective Formation of Preferences” ANR-DFG Project “Collective Attitude Formation” (COLAFORM) The French team of the ANR-DFG project “Collective Attitude Formation” (ColAForm, ANR# ANR-16-FRAL-2010) invites applications for a 18 months postdoctoral position in Social Choice Theory and/or Social Ethics starting June 1st or July 1st 2019. Topic: “The Collective Formation of Preferences” Location: Université Paris-Est Créteil, Créteil, France. Project’s PI: Mikaël Cozic, Université Paris-Est Créteil Duration: 18 months. Starting date: June 1st or July 1st 2019. Requirements: PhD in Economics (social choice theory, decision theory), in decision sciences or in Philosophy (social ethics, collective rationality). Candidates with PhD degrees in disciplines which study the formation of collective preferences (esp., psychology, political sciences, applied mathematics) are also welcome is they can demonstrate their suitability to the project. All candidates should have a strong background in formal models of collective decisions and decision theory. Application deadline: April 15, 2019. Salary: depending on the previous experience of the candidate, the (gross) monthly salary will be between 2000 and 2150 euros. The successful candidate will focus on preferences. He or she will collaborate with members of the French team working in the domain: F. Dietrich (CNRS & PSE), M. Fleurbaey (Princeton) B. Hill (CNRS & HEC), Ph. Mongin (CNRS & HEC), M. Pivato (U. Cergy-Pontoise) and S. Zuber (CNRS & PSE). Most of the specific research topics mentioned in the research project are related to the aggregation of preferences under uncertainty and include - weakening of the Pareto Principle - application of the fair social choice approach to risky and uncertain outcomes - exploration of non-consequentialist social criteria for uncertainty Other topics may of course be considered.
