Brown University's PhD application process for admission in September 2020
has recently opened and I am keen to receive applications to study for a
PhD in the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity. The PhD program is
suitable for students interested in the history of early astronomy,
astrology, mathematics and related disciplines.

Students (both domestic and international) receive full funding (stipend,
medical insurance, and fees) for up to six years provided that good
progress is being made in the program.

The PhD is offered as a track within the Department of Egyptology and
Assyriology. Applicants should apply to the Egyptology and Assyriology
program and select History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity in the drop
down menu for track. The closing date for applications is 15 December, but
I encourage interested students to contact me by email (john_steele@brown.edu) first to
discuss their application.
